The Fountain Art Gallery of Memphis Then and Now...

In our first location in a new mall we opened our gallery in 1985. We filled to the brim our "hole in the wall" with paintings, pottery, sculpture, and other art. Nearby was a splashing fountain. Because of this constant serenade which we all enjoyed, we decided to name our gallery for that lovely fountain.

The concept was unique! Because of our small space, we stacked, stuffed, and crowded in all the art we possibly could. All who visited enjoyed sorting and searching, before finding their real treasures. Small the space but huge were our opening receptions! Outside the gallery we had the receptions and always with music while people were in and out of the gallery admiring our work.

We now have nineteen artists offering a great variety of art in the beautiful Chickasaw Oaks shopping center. All of us are Mid-South artists, equally sharing gallery space and responsibilities. Our goal is to offer the best local art in Memphis in a warm, inviting setting.
